Downtown Walk-in Ministry

Making sandwiches and serving up lunch every other month—that is what volunteers from our congregation are doing downtown. First Presbyterian is just one of many local churches participating in the Walk-In Ministry to assist the homeless at Second Presbyterian at 5 North Fifth Street. We arrive on our appointed Mondays to make sandwiches, prepare trays and help serve homeless people who walk in from the streets. The 2011 dates are October 17 and December 19.

For more information about this easy, but important, service, please contact Debbie Wilkinson. ldwilkinson@aol.com

George Mason Elementary

George Mason Elementary School, in an inner-city neighborhood in Richmond, has been adopted by members of First Presbyterian Church, Fourth Baptist Church and Christ Church Episcopal. Volunteers from both congregations provide teachers and students at George Mason with a wide variety of resources aimed at enhancing the educational experience.

If you want to make a positive difference in the lives of these students, please contact Carolyn Cockrell at 213-0111 or Tassie Madden at 784-2755.

Please contact Trish Bracken Carter for more information or to volunteer to help with any of these activities.  358.2383 ext. 135
