CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter) is the largest emergency homeless shelter in the Richmond metropolitan area. With the assistance of more than 170 congregations, more than 1,300 men, women and children are provided shelter, food and guidance each year.

CARITAS provides year-round evening shelter for single men and women and 24-hour shelter for families. Case management is a required component in the family program.

First Presbyterian hosts CARITAS twice a year, usually once in the spring and once in December. We will host guests the week of December 5-12, 2009. One week is for women and children.
