The youth ministry of First Presbyterian Church exists to empower youth to worship God, study the scriptures, grow in faith, build the community and to love one another. Through various ministry opportunities, FPC offers a safe, welcoming environment in which youth are encouraged and supported in their faith development.

Sunday School/Bible Studies

Sunday School is offered each Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Each Sunday, we gather for a time of fellowship in the church Rec Room and then disperse to our classes. The Sunday School hour is a time for youth to:

  • learn about the scriptures and how they relate to teenagers,
  • explore their faith and ask questions in an open learning environment, and
  • be encouraged as they grow in their faith.
Middle School Sunday School - Journey

Sunday Mornings, 9:30 - 10:30 in room 216.

The middle school youth are currently exploring the Journey of our Faith, from week to week we discuss relevant issues that we will encounter along our Journey of Faith.

Senior High Sunday School - Questions of Faith

Sunday Mornings, 9:30 - 10:30 in the Rec Room

The senior high youth ar using a combination of discussion and video clips to talk about questions that we, as teenager, have about our faith. We will talk about the questions and will look to God's Word to help us better understand.

Confirmation Class

There is not a Confirmation Class for 2007-2008 as we are taking this time to evaluate the class and develop it in a way that will be a more meaningful stage in the faith development of our youth. For questions or if you would like to be involved in this process, please contact Jonathan Read.

Coffee Talk

Tuesday Evenings, 7:30 - 9:00 PM at Starbucks

Coffee Talk is an in depth Bible Study for our senior high youth. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00 at a local coffee shop. This year we are discussing current events and topics and how they relate to us and our faith.

The youth Sunday School classes are taught by teams of volunteer teachers who are dedicated and committed to the youth of First Presbyterian Church.

If you would like additional information about our educational opportunities for youth or if you are interested in becoming a youth Sunday School teacher, please contact Jonathan Read, Director of Youth Ministry , at jread@fpcrichmond.org.
