Children's Worship
This program is offered during both the 8:30 am and 11:00 am worship services and is designed for children age 4-grade 1. Children in this age group attend part of the regular worship service with their families and then are dismissed after the "Time With Children." Parents pick up their children upstairs in room 206 directly following the worship service.
Children’s Worship uses Montessori-based curricula – Young Children and Worship (ages 4-7) --this allows children to experience God while learning about God. They involve helping children worship in a special place apart from the worshipping congregation to enable them to worship meaningfully with the congregation.
These programs use a sensorimotor style of storytelling as a primary means for encountering God, so God is experienced, not just learned about. They give appropriate freedom, so young children can respond to stories of God through story figures and art materials.
To register your child, please contact Leigh Perry at 804-358-2383 or lperry@fpcrichmond.org. All parents of children participating are asked to serve as helping volunteers during the course of the church year on a rotating schedule. Visitors are always welcome!
Worship Readiness
Children's Ministry will sponsor a Worship Readiness Class for children in Grade 2 each fall. The participants in this class will leave the service after Children's TIme at 11 am worship and go to room 215. Parents are asked to meet their children there at the end of the service.
This class is a final extension of Children's Worship, designed to prepare these children to stay in the regular worship service with their families. The class will teach children more about the parts of a typical serivce and how to worship meaningfully with the congregation.
