Children’s Church and Sunday Nursery

This program is offered during both the 8:30 am and 11:00 am worship services and is designed for children pre-k through grade 2 (generally ages 4-8). Children in this age group attend part of the regular worship service with their families and then are dismissed after the "Time With Children." Parents pick up their children upstairs in room 208 directly following the worship service.

Children’s Church uses a Montessori-based curriculum – Young Children and Worship – that is a way for children to experience God while learning about God.  It involves helping children worship in a special place apart from the worshipping congregation to enable them to worship meaningfully with the congregation. Young Children and Worship is a program that uses a sensorimotor style of storytelling as a primary means for encountering God, so God is experienced, not just learned about.  It gives appropriate freedom, so young children can respond to stories of God through story figures and art materials.

To register your child, please contact Leigh Perry at 804-358-2383 or lperry@fpcrichmond.org. All parents of children participating are asked to serve as helping volunteers during the course of the church year on a rotating schedule. Visitors are always welcome!

Sunday Nursery

Childcare is provided for infants to three-year-olds during Sunday School and worship. The infant, wobbler, toddler and three-year-old rooms are located on the first floor. The sign-in table for all children is outside room 106.

Trained paid workers and church members provide secure care for our children. Parents of infants and children through age 3 participate as nursery volunteers on a rotating schedule throughout the year.
