The Nitty-Gritty of Daily Living
Faith and Family Class Room 219
Today's families come in all shapes and sizes--single, married, blended, with children or step-kids. We all have in-laws and outlaws and aging parents. We share many of the same joys, sorrows and challenges and most of us wish we knew more about the Bible. Join our class to discuss the issues we all face: keeping ourselves and our families healthy, strong, sane, and most of all, faithful to the God that nurtures and sustains us in the midst of a busy life. With topics chosen by class members, the format is lecture, reflection questions and discussion. This month we will continue to study Scripture in a small-group format, looking at issues that affect our faith and families
Teacher: Rosalind Banbury is the Associate Pastor for Adult Ministry.
Living the Questions
Sojourners Class Room 205
Using the DVD-based curriculum Living the Questions (LTQ), we’ll continue to explore such pressing issues as the future of Christianity and what a meaningful faith can look like in today’s world. The series features thirty acclaimed theologians, scholars, and church leaders. Rather than attempting to provide ready-made answers to the questions of faith it raises, LTQ creates an environment in which participants interact with one another in exploring personal faith issues as well as the greater issue of what’s next for Christianity in this day and age. Please join us for this thought-provoking and enlightening study!
Teacher: Sandy Irby, a former school psychologist, just graduated with a master's degree in theological studies from Union Presbyterian Seminary.
Theology and Literature
Covenant Class Room 218
February will be Theology & Literature Month once again. Last year we discussed several poems and short stories in the collection Faith in Words: A Collection of Presbyterian Writers, edited by Ann Weems and Louis Weeks (Louisville, KY: Geneva Press, 2004). By popular demand, we return to that collection to discuss more of the pieces that cause us to look at life situations addressed: issues of faith, prayer, church, death, and more.
Teacher: Dr. Trotti, Professor Emeritus of Bibliography at Union-PSCE, is an ordained Presbyterian minister.
